As of the 14th of February visa applications are to be made at the offices VFS Global, a company contracted to the South African Government globally to facilitate the lodgement of visa applications.

FURTHER UPDATE ON SOUTH AFRICAN VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW ZEALAND PASSPORT HOLDER

Please see the current update from the South African Embassy in Wellington.  As per South African Immigration rules set by the South African Government ALL applications for visas will still have to be done in person at the South African High Commission in Wellington.

Effective on/after 16 January 2017, all diplomatic, official and ordinary passport holders of New Zealand will now require a visa to enter South Africa.

If travelling on New Zealand passports to South Africa before 16th January 2017 and returning after this date, the travellers do not need a visa.

New Zealanders living anywhere else in the world (including Australia) that do not have permanent residency in that country, would need to apply through the country of origin in this case through Wellington office. (New Zealanders living in Australia on permanent residency can apply through the South African Commission in Canberra).
